COVID-19

Thank you for your continued support during this challenging time for us all. We have really enjoyed delivering our online Group Classes and Private Tuition, and we would like to say how brilliantly all our students adjusted to the changes we implemented to do our part in curbing the spread of COVID-19.

Breakout have, and are, following all Government guidelines to ensure the safety of our students and their families, our teachers and the wider communities.

Below are measures we have taken, in relation to COVID-19, for our in-person GROUP CLASSES and PRIVATE TUITION. We will add to these as and when we receive the latest official advice.

GROUP CLASSES

Arrivals…

  • Please do not attend if: you, your child or someone in your/their household are displaying COVID-19 symptoms; you, your child or someone in your/their household have tested positive for the virus in the past 10 days; you/your child have been told to self-isolate; you/your child are waiting on a COVID-19 test result. If your child tests positive for COVID-19, you must tell us as soon as possible! In this case, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, some classes may need to go on Zoom for one session instead of in-person (this will depend on advice given at the time by NHS Test and Trace and our Local Health Protection Team).
  • If your child cannot attend for any reason (including Covid), the lesson will be offered online instead via Zoom. Unfortunately, no refunds can be given if this online lesson cannot be attended. This applies to the summer term only and will be reviewed at the end of the term.
  • We kindly ask parents/carers to maintain social distancing when arriving at our venue.
  • No parents/carers are permitted to enter the building (unless in an emergency).
  • All parents/carers are required to drop their children off at the designated drop-off point, outside the building.

In class…

  • We have reduced class sizes (max. 15 students per class).
  • Windows will be open (if weather allows!) to allow ventilation.
  • Frequent hand sanitisation will be undertaken by all upon entry, between disciplines, before and after break and toilet visits, and upon exit.
  • Hand sanitisers will be in each classroom and the main entrance.
  • Masks will be worn in communal areas by all Breakout staff and Senior Class students, unless exempt.
  • Please ensure your child only brings essential possessions (such as water, a snack for break and any medical needs, e.g. EpiPen), and to keep those possessions close to them wherever possible.
  • Non-essential shared items (such as props, costumes, lyric sheets) will not be used for the time being.
  • Students will be encouraged to cough or sneeze using the inside of their elbow to ‘catch it’ or a tissue which should be put straight in the bin.
  • Students will participate in socially distanced activities.
  • Students will be reminded about social distancing (if appropriate) and floor markers will be used in the classes.
  • For our youngest students (3-5 year olds) we will endeavour to deliver classes which encourage them to keep their distance where possible.

Departure…

  • All parents/carers are required to collect their children from the same point where they were dropped off.

PRIVATE TUITION

  • A COVID-19 course has been completed by David & Rachel.
  • On arrival, parents/students can scan a QR code (displayed on the back of our front door) using the NHS COVID-19 app. This is to help trace and stop the spread of coronavirus.
  • Although our toilet facilities will still be available and cleaned regularly, we recommend that students use their facilities at home shortly before coming to their lesson.
  • Please do not be early (or late!) to lessons. If you arrive early, please wait in the car. Knock on the door a minute before your lesson’s start time at most.
  • The 1-metre+ rule will be adhered to as much as possible in David & Rachel’s home (where the lessons take place).
  • Masks will be worn by David, Rachel, parents and students over the age of 11 years (this excludes singing students over the age of 11, who only need to wear their mask in our home between the front door and our music room – once inside the music room, they can remove their mask).
  • Please let us know if you are exempt from wearing a mask.
  • A maximum of one parent or family member is allowed to sit in on a student’s lesson.
  • Hand sanitiser (60+%) will be provided for use before, during and after lessons.
  • Windows will be open (if weather allows!) to allow ventilation.
  • Please do not bring any unnecessary items to lessons.
  • Please refrain from touching anything in our home unnecessarily, especially high-touch areas (e.g. door handles).
  • Please do not attend if: you, your child or someone in your/their household are displaying COVID-19 symptoms; you/your child have been told to self-isolate; you/your child are waiting on a COVID-19 test result.
  • If your child cannot attend for any reason (including Covid), the lesson will be offered online instead via Zoom, FaceTime or Skype. Unfortunately, no refunds can be given if this online lesson cannot be attended. However, all lessons can be rearranged if more than 48 hours notice is given. This notice must be written down in a text or email (not given verbally).
  • Similarly, if government guidelines state that we are not allowed to offer lessons in-person, the lessons will be offered online instead via Zoom, FaceTime or Skype. No refunds will be given if you do not attend these online lessons. Please DO NOT book in for in-person lessons if you are not happy to switch to online lessons, should we have to.
  • If we (David/Rachel) cancel any lessons for any reason (e.g to self-isolate), online lessons will be offered instead. In this case, if online lessons are not wanted by the parent/student, the lesson(s) can be rearranged without 48 hours notice.
  • Payments for lessons must be made in advance via the website, when signing up, and via bank transfer or standing order following this. Physical payments (e.g. made by cash or cheque) will not be accepted.

If you have any questions concerning the above then please do get in touch.
