Your privacy is important to us. We comply with data protection
legislation such as the Data Protection Act 1998. The below explains how we use and protect the personal information you give us.
Who collects and has access to your personal data?We (Breakout Performing Arts) collect, store and use the personal data belonging to you and your child. Only the principals, Rachel and David Hardway, have access to the data you give us. Breakout teachers will be verbally given personal information regarding your child if it is deemed for the benefit of your child and/or the class they enrol to.
In nearly all cases, Breakout will not disclose any of the personal information you provide us with a third party or any other entities. We may only do so where we need help in certain areas, such as website hosting and child protection issues. In very rare cases, the third party may receive your information. However, if this should ever happen, we will control and be responsible for the use of your information.
What personal data do we collect from you and your child, and why?
Upon enrolling your child, we will collect the following information from you: your full name, an emergency contact number, your email address, your home address and postcode, your child’s full name, your child’s date of birth, your child’s gender, the name of the school or nursery your child attends, and any medical issues or additional information regarding your child that is important for us to know.
Every piece of personal data we collect from you is collected to help us provide a good service. Some data is collected for multiple reasons, hence the overlap below.
From time to time, we photograph or film Breakout students or private pupils performing in events/shows, participating in classes, or holding certificates they’ve been awarded. Any photos or videos we take/make will only ever be used: to advertise Breakout (online or on a flyer/other kind of literature), to create products (show DVDs, show photos etc.) that parents/guardians can purchase or view for free, or in Breakout events/shows. If you are against this, please let us know before your child begins classes at our school.
What is the legal basis for collecting and processing your data?
All personal data collected by Breakout Performing Arts is collected and processed with your consent when you sign your child up to our school or private tuition. Also, in effect, you enter into a contract with Breakout Performing Arts, when you accept our offer of service and pay for the service we provide (this ‘contract’ only applies as long as you are paying for, and we are providing, the service you have chosen – either our weekly classes or private tuition).
How long will the data be stored for?
Your personal information will be documented securely and safely and will only be kept as long as it is needed (i.e. for as long as you and your child regularly use our services).
What are your rights in regards to the personal data that we hold?
If you ask for your personal data, or your child’s personal data, to be amended or deleted, we must do so. You must also be able to view the personal data we hold on you and your child, or ask for it to be sent to you or a third party, upon request. If there is anything you don’t want the personal data to be used for, and you tell us, we must ensure it isn’t used in the way you have objected to. Whenever you contact us about personal data, you will be required to identify yourself before we amend, delete, show, or restrict the way we use, any personal data held on file.
What about Social Networks?
Any of our social networking groups, such as the Breakout Performing Arts group on Facebook, are available to the public. Users or members join the group at their own discretion.
I (want to) teach at Breakout. What about my personal data?
Many of the answers to the questions above and below apply to you and your data too. However, there are some differences in what data we collect, why we collect it and our legal basis for doing so.
The personal data we collect from you is the relevant information you choose to include in your CV, e.g. your full name, your contact details and any relevant qualifications and experience. We need this information to select qualified and experienced teachers, and so we can contact you in regards to your work at Breakout.
Your picture, first name, qualifications and experience will also feature on our website if you teach for us, so parents know who is teaching their children and that you are ‘the real deal’!
We will also need specific personal data from you in order to apply for your DBS check – we won’t need all this data if you already have a DBS check on the update service, just the relevant data so we can perform a status check.
Our legal basis for collecting and using your personal data is that when beginning work with Breakout Performing Arts, you read, accept and sign a contract which states your responsibilities and ours which, in fulfilling, work to our mutual benefit.
How do we contact you regarding this privacy policy (or anything else)?
If you have any questions, concerns or complaints about this privacy policy or how we have used personal data belonging to you or your child, please contact us by emailing info@breakoutschool.co.uk or via our contact page. We will always do our best to find a solution to any concerns you may have.
What if this Privacy Policy changes?
Breakout reserves the right to revise this policy at any time without prior notice. However, if this privacy policy changes in any way, the most up-to-date version can always be viewed on this page.
