Photo & Video Policy

Breakout Performing Arts will photograph or film students (and occasionally their family members) during classes, rehearsals, shows, events and external activities such as community performances. Photography and filming may be carried out by Breakout staff and/or by approved third-party photographers/videographers working with us, including the local press/newspaper.

How we use photos and videos
Any photos or videos we take or create will only ever be used for:
• Advertising and promoting Breakout (e.g. website, social media, YouTube, printed materials).
• Creating show-related products (e.g. photos, DVDs, digital downloads).
• Breakout events, shows and projects.
• Sharing relevant images or videos in private, invite-only WhatsApp parent groups for communication and updates.
• Sharing relevant photos or videos directly with individual parents/guardians via private WhatsApp messages (e.g. when an image features only their child or a small number of children).
• Sharing photos or videos in a private WhatsApp group for students aged 13+. Only content appropriate for this age group will be shared via one-way communication only, and they will be visible only to the students in the group. No personal information will be included, and any student whose parent/guardian has not given consent will be excluded.
• Creating exciting short films or videos starring Breakout students (these may be shared on our social media and YouTube accounts). Our previous films can be viewed here.

We never sell our images or videos to external organisations or allow them to be used for unrelated purposes.

Images and videos are stored securely and retained only for as long as they are needed for the purposes listed above.

Family & friends filming
Family and friends may be allowed to take photos or film during some shows, presentations or performances, but only for personal use.

In certain cases, we may restrict filming/photography to comply with copyright or licensing rules.

Your rights & withdrawing consent
Breakout complies with UK GDPR.

Consent is optional and not a condition of joining our school.

Parents/guardians may withdraw consent at any time by contacting Breakout Performing Arts in writing. Withdrawal applies to future use only and does not require the removal of material already produced or published.
